Some people think that electronic products have a negative effect on people's reading and writing abilities. Do you agree or disagree?

🤖 作文

While electronic products bring certain challenges to traditional reading and writing habits, I largely disagree that they have an overall negative effect on these core abilities, as they expand access to reading resources and create new, flexible scenarios for writing practice.

Admittedly, the prevalence of short-form fragmented content on electronic devices does reduce some people’s time spent on deep, long-form reading. Features like autocomplete and built-in spell check can also make users overly dependent, leading to occasional forgetfulness of complex character spelling or formal grammar rules, a phenomenon common among young people who heavily use instant messaging apps.

However, these downsides are far outweighed by the benefits electronics bring to reading and writing. For reading, digital devices break the limitations of physical books: people can access millions of e-books, academic papers, and global news articles at a very low cost or even for free, which lowers the threshold for reading. For example, many rural students in China now use tablet devices to read classic literary works that were unavailable in their local school libraries before, greatly improving their reading volume and comprehension. For writing, electronic platforms provide far more opportunities for practice and feedback than traditional pen-and-paper scenarios. People can write blogs, post comments, or share creative works on social platforms anytime, and receive immediate responses from readers; online writing tools also offer functions like grammar correction and stylistic suggestions that help users refine their writing skills gradually.

In conclusion, electronic products do not inherently harm reading and writing abilities. If used properly, they act as powerful tools to enhance these skills, rather than causing damage.
