Human activities have a negative effect on plants and animal species. Some people think that it is too late to do anything about this problem. Other people believe that effective measures can be taken to improve this situation. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is undeniable that human activities, from deforestation to industrial pollution, have caused severe damage to global plant and animal species, pushing many to the brink of extinction. While some argue that remedial action is now too late, I believe that targeted measures can still bring tangible improvements to the situation.

Those who claim it is too late to reverse the damage often point to the irreversible losses of ecosystems. For example, the Amazon rainforest has lost around 20% of its original area in the past 50 years, leading to the extinction of dozens of endemic species that can never be revived. They also argue that the existing speed of climate change, driven by decades of carbon emissions, has already set in motion environmental shifts that will continue to threaten habitats regardless of immediate action.

However, I side with those who believe effective interventions can still make a difference. First, government-enforced conservation policies can slow and even halt further damage. For instance, the international ban on commercial whaling, introduced in 1986, has allowed several whale populations, such as the humpback whale, to recover from near-extinction to healthy numbers. Second, community-based initiatives, such as reforestation projects and wildlife corridor construction, can restore degraded habitats. In China, the decades-long Loess Plateau restoration project has brought back native vegetation and returned hundreds of animal species to areas that were once barren eroded land. Finally, advances in renewable energy can reduce pollution and habitat destruction caused by fossil fuel extraction, preventing further harm to vulnerable ecosystems.

In conclusion, while some damage to plant and animal species is permanent, it is far from too late to act. With coordinated policy support and public effort, we can protect remaining species and restore damaged ecosystems to create a more sustainable future.

完整覆盖“讨论双边观点+给出个人意见+举例支撑”的所有题目要求,立场贯穿全文,没有偏离主题;
使用while, for example, however, first, second, finally, in conclusion等逻辑连接词,段落间、句子间逻辑连贯,论证层层推进;
使用endemic species, irreversible, near-extinction, habitat restoration, coordinated policy等学术场景词汇,用词准确且多样,避免重复;
综合使用定语从句、状语从句、被动语态、非谓语结构等多种语法形式,句式丰富且正确率高;
